But in an envelope, it probably means it always plays through to the end, so actually it's not an ADSR, but an AD, or possibly AHD or MSEG, but the point is: no release because it ignores the release and just plays through to the end regardless.
One shot envelopes can be nice for drum and other percussive sounds where you want to whack your key or drum pad percussively without worrying how long you need to hold it.
