You should find the series of articles that describes drum synthesis of each standard drum sound. 808, 909, 606, most analog drum synth snares are made with a synthetic noise generator into a filter and in some cases layered with an oscillator and in other cases using the resonance of the filter to add the "tonal" bit of the snare. So taking any snare sound and adding a filtered blast of white noise over the top of it can add an interesting texture that ranges from an extra pronounced snap to a washed out reverb tail depending on the filtering and the envelope of the noise. You can also just gate the noise and use the original snare to trigger the noise. After combining these layers you can then process everything together with further dynamics EQ distortion etc
